Joost Elffers has been influencing publishing, print design and popular culture for some fifty years. The Secret Language of Birthdays — More than 1.7 million copies sold
More than 25 years in print, it remains a No. 1 bestseller in the Numerology category on Amazon
Tangram — 50 years of fun! More than 1.5 million copies sold
One of his first titles, Tangrams (based on the ancient Chinese puzzle) was popularized by Elffers and will have a special 50th anniversary edition in 2023.
Play With Your Food — Created an entire series of related titles. This new way of looking at your food launched an entire series of award-winning children’s books.
The Magic of MC Escher — First published in 2000 and still in print today, a tribute to the spellbinding work of artist M.C. Escher.
-JOOST ELFFERS BIO-
A native of Amsterdam and longtime resident of New York City, Joost Elffers is a design, publishing and packaging, and production entrepreneur. The son of Dick Elffers, a well-known graphic designer, and Emmy Andriesse, a famous Dutch photographer, design is integral to how Joost sees the world —and everything in it: from food to fonts, books to buildings, jewelry, textiles, systems and structures.
His approach to publishing is simple: he creates works that invite imaginative interaction and thought, and at the same time are visually interesting and appealing.
-Joost Elffers Studio-
As Joost Elffers’ trajectory advances, his focus turns towards his legacy, and the legacy of his life’s work. Historically an “outside the box” thinker, Joost believes that through the metaverse, he can share his works and ideas in a place where they can live on forever. In addition to producing books, Joost has more recently explored the opportunities for engaging audiences with design through NFTs. His first editions of NFTs (a collaboration) is the fun, colorful—and playfully ironic—series FOMO. The FOMO NFT concept pairs the “fear of missing out” with the color palettes and artistic energies of visual artists, rock stars, gaming legends, and crypto punk sensibility. The FOMO NFTs@ are produced by his Joost Elffers Studio@ team and launched in collaboration with Bright Moments DOA, available on Opensea.
Along with the release of the Tangrams NFT Series, future projects are in the works, including the much-anticipated 48LawsNFT series, based on Robert Greene’s The 48 Laws of Power, as well as others.
Joost Elffers Studio is also in the exploration and preproduction stages for several film/television/live-streaming projects. Updates to come.
